McCoy Smith is Senior Attorney, Intellectual Property, for Intel’s Software & Solutions Group and chairs Intel’s Open Source Legal Practice Group.  McCoy also teaches patent bar review for Patent Resources Group, and is a member of the Open Source committee of the IPO.  Prior to joining Intel in 1999, McCoy was in private practice at Kenyon & Kenyon in New York, NY and Washington, DC, specializing in patent litigation and prosecution.  He was also a patent examiner in the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office prior to law school.  McCoy is a graduate of University of Virginia (J.D., 1991), Johns Hopkins University (M.L.A., 1989) and Colorado State University (B.S., 1984), and admitted to practice in New York, California, Oregon and the USPTO.
